If you have been waiting for autumn to arrive, it’s officially here! Both parents and children are already craving those autumnal dishes and snacks made of apple, cinnamon, pumpkin, peaches, and more. Tasty and healthy snacks for kids are easy to make with some ingredients you should already have on hand. There are many healthy autumnal snack options to tuck into your kid’s lunchbox, and here are a few recipes to try:

4 Healthy Homemade Autumnal Snacks For Kids

Cinnamon Apple Chips- apple and cinnamon work well together when we make strudels, cobblers, and pies. Cinnamon apple chips are easy snacks to make and they are healthy. Slice apples thinly with a very sharp knife and you can leave their skin on. Arrange them on parchment paper and use paper towel to pat them dry. Sprinkle cinnamon powder over the sliced apple. Bake for one hour and turn the apple slices over. Wait until they are crisp.

Pumpkin Chocolate Cookies- regular chocolate chip cookies are popular, and you can add boiled pumpkin to the dough to improve the flavour. Just use the usual ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. When mixing the dough, add mashed boiled pumpkin and a bit of cinnamon powder.

Baked Tomatoes- if the tomato harvest is abundant in your area, baked tomatoes are healthy snacks that your children should try. Mix minced garlic, chopped fresh rosemary, black pepper, salt, and olive oil, then spread it over sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Bake in the oven until tomatoes are well-cooked.

Baked Sweet Potato Wedges- boil sweet potatoes until they are soft and sweet. Slice into wedges and preheat oven to 204 degrees C. Spread sweet potato wedges evenly on the baking pan. Sprinkle in chopped fresh dill, thyme, and rosemary. Also sprinkle sea salt and bake for twenty minutes.

These snacks are tasty enough that most kids will try them right away, and easy enough to make that you can include your child in the preparation and baking process. Children love to cook and being a part of the cooking process will make these autumnal snacks even more fun.
